Live Music

Dropkick Murphys during their St. Patricks Day Residency at Avalon, Boston, 2002

In the early 2000s, I photographed for the Boston Phoenix, the local weekly arts paper. At first, I was hired to go to restaurants to take pictures of food for the “On The Cheap” section of the paper. I wasn’t paid much, just enough to cover my film processing, but I did get some good eats. Unlike many other photographers who had switched to digital, I was still using my Nikon F5 and Fuji Press 800 film. One day, Kristen Goodfriend, the Phoenix Design Director, called and asked if I had a car and if I could drive to Great Woods and photograph a Mötley Crüe concert. Of course, I said yes, and the rest is history… Unfortunately, I misplaced the film from that day, but I’m sure it is in the studio. I have the other negatives from those years and have put some on my website.
